Because they move around a lot, and reach, and bend, and crouch, and carry . . . AKA Exertion. We are built with the following scientifically established premises in mind.
75% of all health care spending is due to lifestyle choices. Sitting is the new smoking and most sitting occurs at the office. You will never improve health, productivity, nor control health claims spending if you continue to work in the same sedentary environment. While sauntering and standing desks are a good “step” in the right direction, they won’t move the needle like you want. Physico will. Y
Several years ago our president, Keith Jordan, found himself working the Christmas Holiday Season at Nordstrom selling women’s shoes. Apparently, he never loses or gains any weight. At the ripe old age of _ _ (take a guess) he’s the same weight he was at 22. While he does kind of rub our noses in it, it is germane to our story. Keith has this daily obsession with hopping on the scale to check his weight even though it never changes by more than a pound or two. While working at Nordstrom, he noticed his weight was dropping. He thought something was wrong. He wasn’t working out because there was no time, and he was eating hearty food from nearby food carts (burritos, Korean barbeque. . .) So why was he losing weight? After dismissing all sorts of dreaded diseases, he had it figured out. He was on his feet all the time and bending, lifting, carrying, going up and down stairs. Frequent movement. He lost 12 pounds in a few weeks. That’s significant for someone that’s pretty thin to begin with. We all know the last few pounds are the hardest to lose.
The idea was born. Physico will transfer key aspects of a movement ridden work environment to an office environment and build an integrated self-reinforcing reward system. He researched the heck out of it. It didn’t hurt that he’s an ex-college athlete who has been creating gym and track workouts for people for over 25 years and coaching sports teams in his free time. It also didn’t hurt that he’s been working with startups in the group health plan, predictive health analytics space and has his finger on the pulse of current wellness trends and limitations.

Keith Jordan is an entrepreneur as was his father before him. They say there is an entrepreneurial gene. It is his mission to transform the sedentary work environment of today. For the past several years he has played key roles helping other startup companies launch in the health care, wellness, and predictive analytics spaces. He was also instrumental in stewarding Regus Business Centers’ Marketplace launch. He decided it was time to stop being the bridesmaid and become the bride. Or should we say “best man” and “groom?”
Physico is well-served by his additional background in developing sports training programs and coaching team sports. With years of experience, Keith has developed a strong acumen into what it takes to create a solution to chronic sitting and the sedentary workplace. Hence, his creation of the integrated ecosystem of deliverables that is Physico. “It wouldn’t be possible without the great team we’ve put together,” said he.
He earned his JD degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Santa Clara University.
Stephanie leads our design team along with Megan, making Physico designs reality. For the past ten years, Stephanie has been a tremendously creative force in the Northwest. She has amassed an impressive portfolio of work. Her signature talents can be found in a variety of spaces including professional office, creative office, and hospitality.
Stephanie believes great design offers the ability to elevate human experience. It is at the heart of all her work. With every project she touches, she creates beautiful and intelligent design solutions that nurture users’ experience and offer deeper connections with the built environment. She says, “As important as function is to good design, so is beauty. When an environment is striking, balanced, and pleasing to all the senses, we internalize those values and our quality of experience is undeniably heightened.” Now you understand why she’s an essential part of our collaborative team.
Stephanie has also been an instructor teaching at the Art Institute of Portland, inspiring aspiring creatives to reach their fullest talent. Stephanie graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from The Art Institute of Portland.
Carolyn oversees and administers all aspects of our Physico Health Plans. With over 30 years of experience in the group health insurance industry, Carolyn is the ultimate insider’s insider. So much so that she is very good at thinking outside the box. She is a past president of the Health Care Administrators Association of America and current board member. She has also held executive level positions as both Operations officer and VP of Operations with PHP Health Plan, Inc. and Lifewise, A Premera Health Plan, Inc., respectively.
Since 2003, she has been the President and CEO of QVI Risk Solutions, Inc., a full-service group health plan administrator. And the list goes on. In her free time, here’s what else she does to make this world a better place: United Way of Deschutes County, Community Volunteer, Past Board Member and President Rotary International, Rotary Club of Great Bend Healthy Beginnings, Community Volunteer and Past Board Member Health Matters of Central Oregon, Advisory Council Member Central Oregon Community College, HIT Advisory Board Member
She graduated with a B.A., in International Business from Linfield College and from The Oregon Institute of Technology with a Degree in Medical Science Technology.
Maad and Keith were law school classmates “many” years ago. They remained in touch. When Keith approached Maad with the Physico concept, he jumped on board with gusto. Maad is a senior software engineer who cut his teeth in the heart of Silicon Valley. He has an impressive patent portfolio of his own along with successful technology exits, the most recent being a big data solution for Bloomberg. Yes, thee Bloomberg! It doesn’t hurt that he’s a practicing Vegan that wants to help people develop an appreciation for and practice of eating a plant-based diet. He is responsible for overseeing all IP/technology aspects of Physico’s deliverables, including our MEDAL™ software-hardware-firmware integration.
Maad graduated from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics, a Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Virginia, and finally with a Juris Doctorate from Santa Clara University School of Law.
Greg, a licensed commercial contractor, is responsible for overseeing all elements of the build phase of our projects. That includes: scheduling, budgeting, quality control, personnel, subcontractor management, and safety. His background in conceptual estimating, design-build project development, and financial analysis in invaluable. Greg also serves as a resource for creative problem solving, and he is in constant communication throughout the project. He is the consummate team player. Owners, end users, community members, architects, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors will be so pleased working with Greg, they’ll tell a friend. His enthusiasm and attention to detail ensure that each clients’ budgetary and aesthetic design concerns will be fulfilled. He works closely with site supervisors to ensure that each phase satisfies all design detail, and that the work is on schedule, and within budget.
Greg graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor of Science in Bio-Ethics and a Master of Science in Construction Management.
